Our family spent a pleasant morning with Terasin and Anchalee at their workshop. They shared with us the history of Lai Rod Nam and taught us step by step the processes to create our paintings. They are friendly and patient, very nice teachers. They specially arranged a class for us on Sunday as we had to leave Chang Mai the next day. They also shared with us good places to visit in Chang Mai. Super cool!!!

Untethered days We had the best day in the art studio
learning Thai Ancient art. We traced, painted, and covered our paintings in real gold. If you're ever in Chiang Mai, Thailand, add this workshop to your list. What a way to learn about the method that is used to add gold to the temples around Thailand.
Our instructors couldn't have been sweeter. They did the best job inspiring art and confidence in our kids (& me!).
One of our favorite parts about traveling SE Asia has been the creative workshops and this one by far might be remembered as one of the most creative pieces of art we'll ever get to create.

Just spent a wonderful afternoon with Terasin and Anchalee at their Lai Rod Nam workshop.
They are both very knowledgeable, kind and patient. They gave really clear instructions and made the whole experience a lot of fun.

My 15-year-old son and I had the most magical afternoon with Anchalee and Terasin. The experience was wonderful from beginning to end. We were made to feel so incredibly welcome and were taught with patience, care, and kindness. The art process was amazing to understand and we are both proud of the pieces we managed to achieve with Terasin's guidance. They both really went above and beyond to make us feel welcome in their home. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend the experience and would definitely return on our next visit to Chiang Mai.

We found Thai Crafts Gold on Google and were so glad we did the workshop.
Terasin and Anchalee are very kind and welcoming people. You can really feel that they love teaching this workshop and that they are passionate about this ancient craft.
After an introduction into Lai Rod Nam, its history and their adapted method, you get started right away.
The class itself was a lot of fun and you never feel overwhelmed because of the teaching and support throughout the process. We are really proud of the end result and so glad we did this unique workshop.

This experience is a gem. Uniek, een onvergetelijke ervaring en zeker een aanrader. Het kost iets meer, maar het is elk cent waard: alles is goed verzorgd, je werkt met echt bladgoud en je mag je eigen creatie mee naar huis nemen.
De hosts bereiden al het materiaal van te voren voor zodat jij op traditionele wijze je eigen creatie kunt maken.
Alles wordt heel goed uitgelegd en beiden spreken goed Engels. een ervaring om nooit te vergeten
Just attended an incredibly cool workshop 'Thai ancient art of Gilding (lai rod nam)'.
Unique, an unforgettable experience and definitely recommended. It costs a little more, but it's worth every penny: everything is well taken care of, you work with real gold leaf and you can take your own creation home.
The hosts prepare all the materials in advance so that you can make your own creation in the traditional way.

I just have to say that my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our workshop with Anchalee and Terasin. They welcomed us into their home like we were family. They made us feel very welcome. The Lai Rod Nam workshop with Terasin and Anchalee was absolutely amazing. Definitely one of the best workshops I’ve ever done. It was a great opportunity to learn more about the art, history and culture of Thailand.
Both Terasin and Anchalee carefully lead you through everything step by step. They’re very easy going, and super patient. The traditional way can take up to a month to do, but they’ve come up with such a unique experience - such that you get to take home a stunning piece you’ve done within hours.
They don’t run the workshop all the time, so do make sure you book in advance!

We absolutely loved our experience with Anchalee and Terasin! My partner and I aren’t artists, and we left the experience with pieces of art that we would want to buy if we had seen them being sold. The journey began with a short and intriguing history of Thai gold crafts. Then, we actually began the process of creating our gold art pieces. Throughout the process, Anchalee and Therasin were there to support us and keep us company. The two perfectly balanced each other out, with Anchalee joking with us and taking photos while Terasin was gently guiding us with our technique. We felt as if we had been friends with them for a long time. The art process itself was fun and like no other. I couldn’t recommend this more, and we will remember it for a lifetime!

This hands on workshop was the most memorable part of my trip to Thailand. I am an artist and get him to learn about the materials and history of this beautiful gold craft was incredible. The hosts were incredibly kind, funny and sweet and full of information I would do it again and recommend to any friends that visit.

Most historical sites you visit in Thailand Incorporate Lai Rod Nam.
It’s an artist technique that utilizes gold leaf decorating doors, interiors and many other objects. It’s super cool to be able to learn how to do it successfully in just 4 hours.
Terasin and Anchalee are a husband and wife team who are knowledgeable, patient and fun . They are very encouraging no matter your experience level in art. They have seen the common mistakes all before and were able to help us troubleshoot every step guaranteeing a successful piece. It’s most well spent 4 hours of our time in Chiangmai.

My first Gold painting experience was interesting and educational. Before start to do the art piece, the instructor showed me a video clip about the tradition gold paint art in Thailand and explained briefly about the history of this hand painted craft mainly depicted about the lifestyle and belief at that time. The traditional style of images passing on from many generations because the Thai wants to preserve it.
The gold paint workshop has sufficient time to finish the art piece and steps by steps guided by experienced friendly instructor. Able to have tea and dessert for a break , it was very relaxing and enjoyable afternoon so I would highly recommend for anyone who never try this gold paint workshop do have a trail and create the own masterpiece!

Gold: it's cast its spell on us from time immemorial. But solid gold is way too expensive for craftwork. Plating and gilding are difficult techniques using dangerous chemicals. But this delightful couple have developed a modern method of gilding that is neither prohibitively time consuming nor toxic. You can produce a finished artwork in an afternoon. And the results are breathtaking.

This is such a great experience! You don’t have to be any kind of artist to do this, just interested in creating a unique craft using an ancient technique which they’ve expertly adapted for modern audiences to be involved in. Terasin and Anchalee explained everything super well, helped out with anyone who asked and also served refreshing drinks and snacks directly grown from their farm. We loved this experience and came away with a truly unique item that was all our own. Highly recommend!

This was an amazing experience.
Terasin is an expert in the art of Lai Rod Nam, which is the art of producing gold-leaf art on lacquered materials. This process takes months, but he's developed a few modernizations that allow his guests to achieve beautiful results in one afternoon.
Terasin and Anchalee host their guests in a beautiful cottage in a quiet neighborhood on the outskirts of Chiang Mai. On our visit, they first explained the history and techniques of classic Lai Rod Nam, and then taught us their streamlined version.
Over the afternoon, we selected a pattern, transferred it to our boards, carefully painted the outlines with a mixture of modern paint and 2 other classic materials, and applied the adhesive mixture.
We then were taught the delicate art of handling real gold leaf and transferring it to our projects. Finally, at the end of the evening, we washed our boards and revealed our gold-leaf masterworks!
It was magical. Terasin and Anchalee are consummate hosts and their passion for their art shows through in everything they do. Their studio is calm, pleasant, and meditative. They provided beverages and snacks as well as interesting conversation. We learned all about their new farm!

This was a really cool and unique experience. As someone who is not super skilled artistically I was nervous how my piece would turn out, but it is something I will definitely be hanging up in my home. It’s a beautiful and unique local craft that is a hundreds of years old tradition. You have to be patient and attentive to the details of your work, but it also felt kind of meditative to work through. The hosts just moved location and their new space is beautiful and homey. It is about a 20 minute drive from the old city so just be prepared to have the Grab app or another way to call or schedule a taxi if you need transportation back.

L’atelier est très agréable au calme. L’accueil est exceptionnel et vous vous régalez après votre travail d’un excellent mango sticky rice avec du thé.

A great insight into the lai rod nam process. in this workshop we looked at some examples from Thai culture and then were shown how to make our own small piece. the workshop was simple but thorough. Terasin explains the materials and process really clearly and is very helpful. it is lovely to be taught by someone so passionate about his craft, and so kind in helping you to learn how to create your own. really fun, really well organised and lovely people.

I really enjoyed learning this Thai Gold Craft artwork called "Lai Rod Nam" with 2 experienced and patient teachers...
I want to encourage all (expatriate and Thai residents) to attend this training to enable you to appreciate the efforts and patience it takes to create these precious traditional Thai Gold Crafts.
This technique is over 400 years old and you can see these artifacts in many places in Thailand... usually in museums or temples.
You can learn how to make your own. If I can do this at 77, so can you !

This was really an amazing experience! For someone who has been in Thailand for the past year, this gave me the opportunity to learn more about the origin and Lai Rod Nam over the years. The amount of detail and patience you need to actually master it is on another level i feel but this really gave a nice start to trying it out! Terasin was super patient and attentive throughout the workshop, making sure I was comfortable and giving me tips and assistance when I struggled. Both Terasin and Achalee really made the whole environment very comfortable to work with and the hospitality was just amazing despite just restarting the workshop after the pandemic lockdown. They have great plans for Thaicraftsgold, and I'm very excited for them. This was such a memorable experience and I hope to bring my family to try this out one day too

The loveliest experience. Learning about the whole art process and hearing about their experiences really made me happy to be a part of their culture. Don't worry about your art skills because the tools provided were really helpful. The taxi driver got confused with the address and dropped me off at the wrong place but Terasin and Anchalee picked me up with their car even when it's just around the corner. Really thankful for their hospitality with the traditional snacks and loved hearing stories about their garden. Hope to return and take another class!

Terasin and his wife Anchalee showed us a short history of Thai gold leaf crafts and how to handle gold foils in art. I had a wonderful time learning about Lai Rod Nam with Terasin and Anchalee. Terasin is a true artist, and clearly has a deep love for his work. He also provided a very interesting historical and cultural background to Lai Rod Num. I've been to Thailand several times in the past, and I've tried so many different activities, however this experience was absolutely unique. It gave me opportunity to see an authentic Bangkok neighbourhood, the local lifestyle and learning experience to understand Thai art and culture. But also, I learnt from Terasin and Anchalee how to enjoy my work and relax. Anchalee is an incredible host, so much fun to be around. From beginning I felt as I am in my house with my old friends. Bangkok has much more to offer than just good food, fantastic shopping and cultural tours. We experienced a different afternoon doing a workshop on an ancient Thai art form and we truely enjoyed it. The workshop is personalised as it caters to a small group and each of us got to select and do our own piece of work. Terasin was patient and explained to us the original process of the Thai gold craft and how he had modified the process so that the workshop can be done in 4 hours and we still get to learn the craft. Terasin and Anchalee are a great couple and very personable. We truely enjoyed an afternoon spent with them, learning the craft, having Thai snacks and tea and bringing home our masterpiece 😀. I would recommend this experience to those who want to do something different and unique.

Phenomenal class! I actually didn't realize this was the mini-workshop class and after taking it I wish we'd have taken the full workshop to make the full A4 sized art. The class was very personal and it was very satisfying to create something to beautiful in several hours. Anchalee and Terasin were amazing and patient instructors. I highly recommend this class to families, kids, and just anybody who wants really cool art to bring home that they made themselves. Take the full class if you can! Well worth it!

What an absolute joy! The lesson beforehand was informative and useful, and the class after was such a pleasure. I learned so much about the art form, and have a new understanding of the skill and effort that goes into lacquer pieces. And I absolutely love the piece I made. AMAZING experience! We got to make and bring home an A4-sized gold artwork. We used real 99.99% gold leaf and this artwork can last at least 100 years with the proper care. This art style is prevalent in many Thai temples, furnitures, etc so it was eye-opening to gain a deeper insight from Khun Terasin and appreciation into Thai art and culture. Khun Terasin and his wife made us feel extremely welcome into their homes and they shared pretty interesting stories about themselves. Highly recommended and extremely value-for-money!

If you’re wondering what to do in Bangkok this is a great place to try. Terasin goes the extra mile in ensuring you are picked and dropped at the Mrt station to avoid any trouble of getting to the location on time. As soon as you step foot in their beautiful home, Terasin’s wife has your work station ready and loaded with a local Thai snacks and drinks( and of course the art supplies).Terasin and his wife are extremely passionate about the craft. They are very attentive and will guide you in each step in creating your own masterpiece. I was extremely happy to get a one-on-one time with the master to learn and finish a beautiful piece of art, which I will treasure. As you immerse yourself in creating a beautiful 24k thai gold painting you will realise how quickly time as flown by and it’s time to leave with your creation. Looking forward to enroll for another session with Terasin on my next trip.

Brilliant afternoon with Terasin. We learnt an amazing new skill and had a fabulous time. Terasin taught us a little about the history and different styles between cultures before we made out own. We spent six hours on the experience and didn't feel rushed and were well supported throughout with copious amounts of drinks and snacks provided. We both walked away with a unique piece of artwork that we loved, all credit to Terasin. Thank you again!

We always enjoyed the art in temples but now we appreciate the workmanship on a whole new level. We were welcomed by Terasin and his wife into his home to do this amazing workshop. They were so patient with us and passionate about teaching us the technique of Lai Rod Nam. Also being able to have your own handmade art to take home is something that we will cherish forever. The Thai snacks were devine! It was a little sad to leave as it felt like visiting friends and having an afternoon of laughs and chatting. Thanks so much for the memories! 😀

We ABSOLUTELY loved our time with Terasin and Anchalee! It was without a doubt the best part of our trip to Bangkok! Terasin is a true artist, and clearly has a deep love for his work which makes the experience all the more joyful. Anchalee is an amazing host, so much fun to be around and shared delicious snacks and drinks for the afternoon. It feels like you’re hanging out with friends in their living room learning about this beautiful, ancient art process and painting and laughing along the way. It was so relaxing and fun and then you get to bring a unique piece home with you to cherish. whatever you do, you have to include this in your itinerary to Bangkok.

WOW! I had an amazing time learning about Lai Rod Nam with Terasin! I don't have any art experience but Terasin made it very beginner-friendly. He also provided a very interesting historical and cultural background to Lai Rod Nam. I've been to Thailand several times in the past, and I've tried the usual food tours and boat rides, but this experience is definitely unique and top-notch. It was also very much of an eye-opener to see an authentic Bangkok neighbourhood that isn't overrun with tourists, and also to understand more about the local lifestyle. The Thai desserts and fruits served are so tasty that I packed some home too! I really appreciate your hospitality! This experience deserves more than 5 stars 🙂

Terasin and her wife were full of passion with what they love, the craftmentship. Before we step in there house, all the hospility vibe they created already let us feel home. The lecture itself was extremely fun, you will never imagine that your painting eventualy cover by real gold strikes with the historical pattern. The whole afternoon, you feel that you are exploring and creating a little piece of a vintage history. I am sure if you come here, it will be the coolest spiritual memory. After the lecture, Terasin and his wife brought us to a great local temple to see how the craftsman we just learned actual apply on the Buddha Body. That's really engage people to feel proud with there artworks. The best tour. This class make our Bangkok trip, my wife and I are so grateful we have this fantastic class, and also know the people who keep working on the great vintage skill and trying to introduce it to the world. Highly recommended this class. Well well done, greatest memory in Thailand.

Terasin picked me up from the train station and after a 10 minute drive we arrived at his great family home in which he is the 3rd generation. It is in a friendly neighborhood but outside Bangkok centre. I had a great day with Terasin and his wife Angelie, they were very kind and flexible. I felt comfortable and like a queen with their attention and traditional Thai drinks and food with which they really spoiled me. We made a great piece of art, I now understand how to work with gold leaves and as we had some spare time they even toke me to their temple, beautiful place without tourists. They want to give you the feeling like they are meeting new friends and I have found 2 in Bangkok. So don't hesitate, join Terasin and send my regards.

Not only the art is golden! Terasin and his wonderful wife, Anchalee, have something very special to offer. This traditional art has been carefully honed by Terasin and he shares it with you in an engaging but yet relaxed way. This experience was worth every penny! From the time that Terasin picked me up from the BTS platform and through out the whole experience I felt at ease. The knowledge, experience and atmosphere was great! Terasin has the ability to teach without being overwhelming, promoting your skills and helping you acquire new ones. His wife Anchalee was a wonderful host in a beautiful home and together I felt like I had known them forever. I had a fantastic day learning about an exquisite art of Thai gilded lacquer, and making my own piece under the expert guidance of Terasin. The whole process was fascinating from start to finish, and very easy to follow. I do not have any special painting or other craft skills, and I still manage to produce a very good-looking piece, which will always remind me of a wonderful day spent practicing this ancient art. Terasin and his wife are very gracious and kind hosts, who do their best for the guest and make you feel at home. They even took me to the beautiful old temple nearby after we had finished, to see how Lai Rod Num was used in its decoration. The experience is well-organised from the first minute to the last, and it is a great way to learn about Thai fine art. Recommended to everyone who wants to have a deeper understanding of Thai culture, and learn from the master.

Truly amazing, heartwarming and eyeopening and gratifying experience by both Terasin and his wife. What a beautiful idea that traditional Thai art can be simplified so it can be shared. Background information and interesting history just hightened the appreciation for the culture. Terasins competences and passion for art allowed each of us to create our own amazingly stunning gold leaf art pieces step by step - while some times talking, some times quietly dedicated to the art project and listening to soft music while sampling yummy yummy treats you would not want to miss either 🙂 My best Bangkok experience ever - I'll be back next time I'm in town. So many more designs to do, more things to talk to these wonderful people about, share and appreciate amazing art that helps connect us across cultures.

Terasin and his wife are lovely and wonderful hosts. They are both friendly, cheerful and now I can call they are great friends indeed. Besides sharing the history and techniques of this tradition Thai craft art. They welcomed me and other guest just like a family. I can feel their passions during the experience. We have fun learning and enjoyed the conversation regarding Thai culture, art, music and many fun topics. A lot of laughters, good memories as well our great works - they are good teachers. Very Patient. Let us finish our work according to our progress which is longer than the original schedule plan. Their professions and perspectives provides me more advice to improvise my work 🙂 love it!

Terasin and his wife are very welcoming, friendly and most importantly very patient. I didn't have an artistic soul but they gave me confidence and with some help it turns out so good I can't believe I did it :). I was alone so I got to play my own songs too! Also, their house is lovely with gardens and if you are lucky you get some of the fruits from the trees 🙂 If you finish early you might be able to visit the temple nearby to see the gold painting there, but I finished quite late so it was closed when we got there. Overall, a great experience and worth the money 🙂

Wow what an amazing amazing experience. Loved Terrasin's passion for the art and his amazing wife Anchalee. Their house is beautiful and even the space that you create your art is amazing. The way the whole thing was organized with a proper presentation, explanation of the origin of the art, the tools, the samples... and ofcourse their passion to teach and help you learn... If you like to learn a new craft I would recommend this class. I take a lot of learning classes where ever I travel; this is definitely among my favorite ones.

When you visit Thailand and want to do something different, then you should book a class with Terasin. He takes you to the origin of this art and together with his wife he will teach you how to make a beautiful art piece in pure gold to take home, despite of your experience. Very professional. What a great workshop! My friend and I had a splendid experience of Thai Art and Thai traditional snack, fruit and homemade drink. Thai Lai Rod Nam was invented and very complex to make in the old times. However, K.Terasin made it super easy to make with his techniques. He and his wife, K.Aor taught us in an easy way from the very beginning. We could create our own precious art pieces even though we did not have much knowledge about art, drawing or painting. I believe anyone could do it too! He picked us up which was very convenient. His place was nice and clean. There were some good herbal scents and relaxing music on while we were doing Lai Rod Nam. I had a really great time. It was a perfect workshop!! It started with an explanation of history of the artwork so that I can get insight into this traditional art. Then I tried painting, putting gold leaves, and washing it out with water. Finally, I was able to complete a masterpiece with Host's kind help! I highly recommend this workshop to those who are interested in trying something new!! Oh, I almost forgot to mention that there were some delicious fruit and snacks!! Thanks Terasin and Aor!! They picked me up from the station and took me to their beautiful home. We started the class by learning about the art styles and what it was used for. Then he took me step by step through the entire process. He had prepared different pictures that I was able to trace, so really all you need is to have a steady hand and your art will turn out beautiful. Don't drink coffee before hand, as that may make your hands shaky. They prepared a lovely assortment of native fruits and traditional Thai snacks, along with beverages. The process of making the artwork was drawn out into many easy to follow steps. Quick word of advice-ladies, be careful not scratch your almost finished product during the washing stage with your finger nails, because it will show up on the picture! At the end, it was a beautiful product and a day I will always remember. Thank you to my host and hostess!
