Thai art and history have long been a source of fascination for us since our days as students at the College of Fine Arts. Following our graduation, we embarked on our journeys abroad, immersing ourselves in diverse cultures. Our deep appreciation for Thai arts has motivated us to actively pursue our passion, ultimately enabling us to share our rich cultural heritage through artistic expressions. We trust that this workshop will offer you a unique opportunity to witness the exquisite beauty of Thai gold craftsmanship through our perspective.
What we'll do
Our workshop takes place at the AUA Language Center, which is situated in a charming historical wooden house designed in the traditional Lanna style. Located in the old city of Chiang Mai.
We will start our workshop by delving into the history and exploring the intricate process of creating the traditional Lai Rod Nam. We are excited to introduce a new adapted technique that provides a quick and easy way to produce this Thai art form.
To begin, we will trace a design onto an A4 size (8.3″x11.7″) workpiece, which will then be painted with the new adapted mixture. Numerous gold leaves will be delicately added to the piece. Subsequently, the workpiece will be gently washed with water, removing the painted background and revealing stunning real gold patterns.
After the workshop concludes, you will be delighted to bring home your very own exquisitely crafted Lai Rod Nam gold masterpiece.
